The set? A kitchen floor in Tokyo, a couple and vacuum wrapped bag.
That’s what Japanese photographer Haruhiko Kawaguchi needs when he spends 10-20 seconds photographing couples that he’s met in nightclubs. Arranged like pieces of preserved meat, Harujiko places couples inside bags intended to store futons and quilts. He seals their conjoined bodies insude the bag using a household vacuum that sucks all the air out.
We give Kawaguchi an A+ for creativity, but there’s no doubt that there is a HUGE photographers liability associated with this kind of shoot. Obviously, the “WARNING” sign on the sealable bags is being neglected…
Luckily, after photographing over 80 couples the project, Flesh Love, hasn’t encountered any serious issues. Although, one man ended up wetting himself ,according to the buzzed-about photographer. Kawaguchi also admitted that men tend to panic more than the women, while women are most concerned with looking good. [source]
